Our Commitment

We serve one client: you.

We don’t sell any commission paid products, we don’t have hidden economic relationships with fund companies or insurance carriers.

You are placing your trust in us, and to us, that means everything.

Our bar is simple: would we want our own family’s money to be managed at our firm? That’s a commitment we take literally, the principals of our firm are invested in the same strategies we put our clients into.

We are also committed to asking the hard questions that can make all the difference when the unexpected happens. Money ties into meaty items about purpose, longevity and legacy. We are here to help you think all of that through.

FAQs

Is there a minimum to become a client?

We generally recommend having investable assets of $400,000 for management to become a client.

What does working with Briardale look like?

Briardale was created to solve problems we ourselves faced as entrepreneurs, builders, and students of markets. We have seen what the modern financial system has created: perverse incentives around risk-taking, structured products, and a massive “sales” infrastructure around financial products. It’s a maze and we are here to help you sift through it. For us that’s a real, personal relationship where we look to understand your goals and how we can get three together. We will never be family, and we won’t pretend to be, but we are here to help you as if we were.

What happens in the first call?

We listen and explore if there’s a fit. While other firms have business development professionals to onboard clients, you’ll meet with a principal of the firm to discuss our philosophy on planning, investing, and markets. It’s a two-way conversion to explore if there’s a fit.

How do you get paid?

We are a fee-only financial planner. We are only paid by households who are engaged in a financial-planning relationship with us.

Are you fiduciaries?

Yes – please see our fiduciary statement.

What services do you provide?

We hope to provide insight as to how anything with a dollar sign or percentage fits into your financial picture so you can know what you own and why you own it. We do have limitations on drafting your estate documents and filing your taxes (and defer to those qualified professionals).

Do you manage investments?

Yes. We manage just about any account type that can be held at Charles Schwab.

How do you work with my CPA, attorney, or insurance team?

We believe that coordination of your whole team is part of our role. Financial planning should be forward-looking. If we recommend a strategy that merits a change in one of these domains, we either coordinate with your existing professionals or seek to find a professional that you can utilize.
